Gallows Pole eBook JD Rhoades

Someone is killing entire families, forcing fathers to hang their wives and children before taking their own lives. How does the killer do it? And what is the meaning of the small iron horse the killer leaves at every murder scene? FBI agent Melissa Saxon and her handpicked team are racing against time to solve the mystery before more families die.
Former anti-terrorist operative Colonel Mark Bishop and the survivors of his command think they know. One of their own, a stone killer who calls himself the Hangman, has come out to play, and he's trying to draw out not only Bishop, but his former comrades—the elite team known as Iron Horse.
Only the Horsemen can stop one of their own. But the team is disbanded, the survivors scattered. Bishop himself is tormented by guilt for the things he had to do to keep one of his men from suffering an agonizing death. Their adversary is not only a skilled assassin, but a master at creating fear. Behind the scenes, shadowy and powerful figures pursue their own plans for Bishop and the Hangman.
Mark Bishop, Melissa Saxon, and the last of the Iron Horsemen will have to use all their courage and every resource, including an array of high-tech weapons, to stop the Hangman. What they have to do will put everything they ever believed in to the ultimate test and push Bishop to the edge of sanity.

Gallows Pole eBook JD Rhoades
I am a JD Rhoades fan and I really enjoyed this one. I loved the Bishop character and the members of his team as well -- although they were supporting characters and didn't get that much page time, they each had a distinct personality. The action and story was a lot of fun.Taking off one star because the love between Melissa and Bishop had zero chemistry. I love action thrillers and I love hot romances (they don't have to be the same book but it is so much fun when they are.) JD Rhoades writes fabulous male heroes. Unfortunately he has no affinity for creating women and relationships. His female characters (personality, dialog) could be replaced by male ones. Love/sex feels cursory (it will happen now because we have reached that chapter.) Considering that love for Melissa drives Bishop, I really wish Mr. Rhoades had been able to show a reason for its development. The love Bishop has for his team is far more believable and palpable.

Gallows Pole eBook JD Rhoades Reviews
This one had me going from the first page! All of the guys sounded super cool! Each had their own specialty and used it for the good. Some of it was sad but most of it was just plain exciting! Bishop and his crew come out of retirement to find the bad guys who are trying to kill innocents!! I would highly recommend this one! In fact, I picked up Storm Surge as soon as I finished this one and it was also a great read!!
I enjoyed reading J.D. Rhoades' previous novel, GOOD DAY IN HELL, and so I wanted to check out his new ebook, GALLOWS POLE. It's an adrenaline-driven, rollicking adventure thriller, remindful of Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt or Lee Child's Jack Reacher, only better written. Colonel Bishop and his Iron Horse special ops military squad use the latest warfare technology, including Lot Seventeen. Read their "A-Team" exploits to find out just what that secret stuff is, and how it works. How can you but not like the tough guys who've adopted Felix the Cat as their team mascot? FBI Special Agent Melissa Saxon is the kick-ass heroine, so the gentlemen don't keep the spotlight all to themselves. Much of the action occurs in the nearby Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, so I like the setting. There's a political edge behind the fireworks, and the main characters are multi-dimensional who keep it real. Great stuff enlivens your that sure did mine.
I want more books like this one! I love invincible people who have their own little problems that catch them up from time to time, but that win out once the dust settles. This book was so. Hard to put down... Work just had to wait while I read just a little bit more. I hated for it to end! Lots of action and good guys fighting the creeps of the world with fun new tools...Er... Bombs and things. J.D. Rhoades. Get busy!!!
A fast moving thriller.
A covert military team has broken up. Its former leader has sentenced himself to his own prison for war crimes. Another has moved around the country hanging entire families in an effort to draw the former leader out for the chase. The former brains behind the whole organization has decided he wants to put the 'band back together' for the good of the U.S. The FBI is drawn into this whole affair, trying to find The Hangman. All in all a good mix of characters to like and to dislike. And, of course there is just enough intrigue and deceit to make it an interesting story.
Given the ending, my guess is there will be more novels featuring most of these characters, the ones that weren't killed off in this book.
"Gallow Pole" by J.D. Rhodes is the latest book of the many he has written. It is, however, the first J.D. Rhodes book I have read, and even though it contained some very graphic killing scenes, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. In fact, I found it hard to put it down. It has mystery, intrigue, action and it is filled with the highest of high tech equipment and weaponry. Everything from the most evil to the ultimate good is woven throughout the story. Corruption reigns within the highest ranks of the government and is ultimately exposed through the diligence of FBI agents and select members of a special forces unit called Iron Horse. A rogue from this Iron Horse unit is killing entire members of several families and always leaves a small iron horse at each crime scene. This is a puzzlement for the local officials and FBI agents, but a clear sign to former members of the iron horse team. These former members know that this killing madman must be stopped and in order to do that they must get their leader, Colonel Bishop, to come out of his self-imposed exile. There is never a lull in the action and the many twists and turns keep you wondering what will happen next.
There are a lot of characters to keep tract of which can be confusing at times, but they are all intricately meshed to give a continuous story line. As with other e-reads, I find all the typos and spelling errors to be somewhat distracting, but this is nothing a good proof reading couldn't fix. I am grateful that this book is available for my and I have found that "Gallows Pole" was a great introduction into the world of J.D. Rhodes' reads.
